Notre Dame is an unimpressive 4-0 this season with wins coming over the likes of Duke, South Florida, Florida State, and Louisville. Pittsburgh is just 3-3 this year but is a couple of plays away from being 5-1. The Panthers have lost three in a row.

The Irish offense has been good against poor defenses and not saying Louisville's defense is great, but the Irish managed just 12 points in a 12-7 win. 52-0 over South Florida and 42-26 against Florida State. The Louisville matchup last weekend was tricky but Notre Dame escaped with a win 12-7. Ian Book threw for just 106 yards on 11-of-19 passing in the win over the Cardinals. Karen Williams carried the ball 25 times for 127 yards. Book also rushed 47 yards and a touchdown. It was the ND defense that came through to save the day.

Pitt opened the season with three straight wins but has dropped three games since, losing 2 by a single point. Pittsburgh's offense has been a bright spot but their defense has ket them down late at times this season. They missed an extra point in overtime in their loss to Boston College and gave up a TD in the last 45 seconds to NC State for two of their losses.

Notre Dame has not really played anybody this season up to this point. Pittsburgh has been able to put up points this season and if their defense can make some stops they will be right in this game. This is a lot of points after Notre Dame was able to score just 12 against a subpar Louisville team. This is a perfect spot for Pittsburgh to shake off those close losses.
