The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Northwestern Wildcats head across the pond to open the Big 10 season in Ireland. The Cornhuskers won 3 games last year and coach Scott Frost has been taking the heat. The Wildcats also won 3 games last season. The Nebraska Cornhuskers put up 27.9 points and 446.6 yards a game last season. On the defensive side, they gave up 22.7 points and 366 yards. Texas transfer Casey Thompson has been named the starting quarterback. Omar Manning and Rahmir Johnson combined for 500 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. Johnson is also the leading returning rusher with almost 500 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Nebraska has to replace the quarterback, the offensive skill positions, and the secondary. The Wildcats put up 16.6 points and 318.3 yards a game last season. On the defensive side, they gave up 29 points and 429.8 yards. They return quarterback Ryan Hilinsk, who threw for 978 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. Malik Washington and Evan Hull combined for 800 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. The offense should be more experienced this season and the defense return a lot of experience to that side of the ball as well as some defensive playmakers. The Wildcats are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Cornhuskers are 14-5-2 ATS in their last 21 games on grass and just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. The favorite is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
Nebraska has a lot of players to replace from last year. Northwestern is a lot more experienced than it was a season ago and has one of the better head coaches in Fitzgerald. The Cornhuskers have not lived up to expectations and are just 5-10 against the spread in their last 15 games as a favorite. I think this line is way overinflated/ Take the free points on Northwestern
