The Western Michigan Broncos go on the road to take on the Ball State Cardinals in early MACTION. It is the second game on the road for the Broncos after dropping their opener to Michigan State 35-13. Ball State lost their opener on the road to Tennessee 59-10. Jack Salopek had a decent showing for WMU, throwing 193 yards and rushing for 36 yards in his first-ever start. Sean Tyler rushed for 68 yards on 13 carries. The Broncos fumbled twice in the red zone, which really hurt their chances in a close game. Ball State comes into this season with the 7th youngest roster in Division 1 football. Eight of the Cardinals' 22 starters were making their first career start against the Volunteers. Quarterback John Paddock threw for 269 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions. He completed 27 passes in the opener after just completing 34 in his college career. Western Michigan has far more experience than the Cardinals. Ball State didn't have much of a ground attack so Western Michigan will set their game plan around stopping the pass. Last season, Ball State upset the Broncos on the road, 45-20 but that team had a lot more experience than this year's team. Lay the points with the Broncos.
