The UConn Huskies ended the season having won three of their final four games. The Marshall Thundering Herd finished the season winning four in a row. Things did not start off well at the beginning of the season as they started the season 1-4 but finished 5-2 down to make a bowl game. UCONN puts up 19 points a game. The Huskies rely on their running game and had five runners that rushed for at least 300 yards this year. They will be down to four as third-leading rusher Nathan Carter entered the transfer portal and is heading to Michigan State. UConn had 36th ranked rushing attack but rank just 127th in the passing game as they employ a short passing attack. on the defensive side, they rank 92nd against the run and 60th against the pass. Connecticut has the 72nd-ranked scoring defense in the country giving up 21 points a game.

The Thundering Herd of Marshall had a huge win over then #8 Notre Dame but then lost three of their next four. Marshall puts up 24.2 points a game. Marshall also relies on their running game. They had the 38th-ranked rushing attack and the 102nd-ranked passing attack. On the defensive side, they ranked 10th against the rush and 52 in pass defense. Marshall is 9th in the country in scoring defense allowing 16.2 points a game.

This will be a contest between two teams that like to run the ball. This sets up for time-consuming drives and the potential for the offenses to stall and a lot of punts or field goals.
