MICHIGAN ST -6.5 vs. IOWA: BEST BET
(NCAAB) Spartans (MSU) vs. Hawkeyes (IOWA),
Point Spread: -6.50 | -110.00 Spartans (MSU) (Away)
Result: Win
MSU will thump Iowa on Thursday evening with a dominant effort on both ends of the court. The Spartans laying just six points in this matchup is quizzical, as this year's Hawkeyes squad has not been nearly as competitive as we have come to expect from Fran McCaffery's teams. MSU can earn at least a share of the Big Ten championship with a win, as well.

Michigan State (1st nationally in 3PT defense vs. the average opponent, per Haslametrics) will bottle up Iowa's three-point shooters, as it did against Maryland (4-for-20) and Wisconsin (5-for-32) in the last two games. The Hawkeyes don't get to the foul line much (272nd in FT attempt rate) and don't convert many second-chance buckets off offensive rebounds (305th in quick points off offensive rebounds), either. The Spartans rank 26th in defensive momentum, while the Hawkeyes are 259th in offensive momentum, per Haslametrics.

Iowa will struggle to defend Michigan State on the other end of the court. The Spartans will dominate on the offensive boards (29th in quick points off offensive rebounds and 24th in second-chance conversion percentage) against a Hawkeyes team that ranks 228th in defensive rebounding and 311th in second-chance conversion percentage allowed. Those rebounds should lead to open looks from three-point range, which MSU can take full advantage of (Iowa ranks 270th in opponent 3PT%).

Iowa is 6-10-1 ATS at home and 1-8-1 ATS in its last ten games overall. The Spartans are laying too few points.
