#731/732 ASA PLAY ON Under 137.5 Points - UMKC vs Oral Roberts, Wednesday at 7 PM ET - UMKC and ORU get the Summit League tourney tipped off on Wednesday. They ended the season in 8th and 9th place (out of 9 teams) and this will be the only Summit League tourney game on Wednesday. We’ve been on a few UMKC Unders this season and for good reason. They are, by far, the slowest paced team in the conference and they’ve been able to slow down pretty much every team to their pace. On top of creating a game with very few possessions, the Kangaroos are the best defensive team in the Summit as well. They rank #1 in the league in defensive efficiency, eFG% allowed, 3 point FG% allowed, and PPG allowed. They have held many of the top offensive teams in the Summit in check this year. The problem for UMKC is, they struggle offensively. They rank dead last in the conference in scoring, eFG%, 2 point FG%, and 3 point FG% while ranking 8th in offensive efficiency. They’ve failed to top 70 points in 11 of their 16 conference games this season. ORU’s offense isn’t great ranking 7th in scoring and 8th in FG%. They like to shoot the 3 but that’s a problem here as we said with UMKC’s defense ranking #1 defending the arc allowing just 32% in conference play. Their defensive numbers for the season are poor, but Oral Roberts has been trending up on that end of the court topping their expected defensive efficiency in 6 of their last 8 games (per Haslam Metrics). In their 2 meetings this year, both were low possessions with 62 and 66 possessions but both went Over as they combined for 37 made triples in those 2 games and both played well above their average offensive efficiency. We look for another low possession game but in the tense tournament format on a neutral court (Sioux Falls, SD) we expect this to be a low scoring grinder.
