Total: 5.50 | 113.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is a 10* TOTAL OF THE MONTH on the UNDER between the Buffalo Sabres and the Calgary Flames.
When the smoke clears at the end of this one, we look for this total to stay below the posted number. Calgary has dominated this series at home for years and comes in on a three-game win skein. The Flames though are still among the leagues cellar dwellers despite having gone 8-5-1 since, most recently beating the Sharks 4-2 on Tuesday. Calgary has been dominant at home though, coming into this one having won seven straight. Note that it isn't all sunshine and roses in Calgary though, the team still possesses the league's worst power play, a unit which has gone 2 for 35 in the last ten games. And that doesn't bode well vs. a Buffalo team which has given up just one power-play goal in four of its last five games. The Sabres are vastly improved from last season, but have lost seven of their last eight in Calgary, scoring two or fewer goals in each game. Note that Buffalo will start Chad Johnson in net, who posted a 1.33 GAA during a three-game win streak, which ended in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Oilers. And note that Buffalo has seen the total go UNDER the number in four of seven this year in all non-conference games and in all four road game that it's played where there total is 5.5, while Calgary has seen the total dip below the posted number in 17 of its last 31 after playing three consecutive home games. Play on the UNDER.
