We like the Indiana Pacers to defeat the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at 7:10pm ET for a number of reasons. Here are some of the more important ones:

Indiana was 47-35 last season. Detroit owned the worst record in basketball at 14-68.

Detroit did bring in Tobias Harris, Tim Hardaway Jr, Malik Beasley, and Paul Reed. That will help them win some more games this season. But, they still won't be good enough to get to the playoffs.

The Pistons got obliterated in every game last season between these two teams. Each of the four games were by more than eight points.

Indiana ranked 2nd in offensive efficiency last year and played at a very quick pace. If they keep that up this season, Detroit won't be able to keep up.

The Pistons finished their 2023-24 campaign having lost seven straight home games.

We think that the Pacers should be favored by a lot more here in the opener. Therefore, lay the small number.
