The Phillies' ace Wheeler finished the season with a surge, then threw a fine 6 inning shut-out in his first taste of post season play. He has pitched very well against the Braves this season after facing them 3 times. His last appearance against them was a 7 inning 1 run gem.
Wheeler's opponent Wright was 21-5 this year. He has pitched a lot of innings in his first full year, and his ERA and opposing batters' avg. has crept up slightly at the last. He had a taste of the postseason last year, and has pitched well vs the Phillies this season.
Both teams are hitting well, but the Phillies have the momentum of a WC series win and a steal in the first game against the Braves. The Braves have one advantage on paper in this series; the bullpen. The Phillies' bullpen has had some very good relief efforts down the stretch. I like the Phillies chances of a lead as long as Wheeler is in the game, and am counting on the bullpen to keep things close.
