Blue Jays over Yankees- The Yankees, who are 4-13 in their past 17 contests, went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the opener against Toronto. New York batters struck out 13 times, and the team's only runs came on balls that did not leave the infield. Jameson Taillon (11-3, 3.95), who leads the Yankees in wins, gets the call on Friday. The right-hander took the loss in his latest outing; he allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings in a 3-0 defeat at Boston on Sunday. Taillon is 4-3 with a 3.51 ERA in eight career starts against the Blue Jays, including 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA in four starts this year. Toronto hands the ball to Kevin Gausman (8-9, 3.16 ERA). The right-hander is 3-6 with a 3.81 ERA over 12 starts since the beginning of June. Gausman followed consecutive scoreless outings by getting tagged for five runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings during a 7-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday.
