UTEP did take a step forward last season with three wins but they still struggle in conference play. One major plus for the UTEP Miners here is their ability to run the ball with a deep stable of backs to do damage on the ground. New Mexico State has struggled with the run, allowing fewer than five yards per carry over the course of the season just once in the last 10 years. NM State is very bad and didn't even have a season last fall. They played twice in the spring and didn't look good and they also had a bunch of players transfer out of the program. There are just too many holes for New Mexico State to try and patch at this point in time. UTEP builds off their momentum from last season and that carries them to a win and cover on the road here.
