These teams locked up in Oakland last week with the Mariners sweeping all four games in the series. Flexen beat Irvin in the third game of the series last week and has beaten the A’s twice this season. Irvin has had major problems against the Mariners in his career, losing all four starts and hasn’t gone deeper than five innings in any of those outings. Oakland beat Houston in the first two games of their weekend set but also saw Andrus hurt his ankle scoring the winning run Saturday. It’s hard to know what to expect from the A’s at this point given their ups and downs late in the season. Seattle is at home and they have the momentum from their sweep of the A’s last week. Give the Mariners the advantage at home and they are very good against teams within their division.
