10* Tourny Game of the Week
(NCAAB) Virginia Tech vs. Texas,
Point Spread: 0.00 | -110.00 Texas (Home)
Result: Win
The Longhorns had an impressive season, but it ended on a sour note with back-to-back losses before being eliminated from the Big 12 tourney in their first game against TCU after blowing a 20 pt halftime lead. Texas is the #6 seed that KenPom’s ratings like best, with their +20.50 adjusted efficiency margin ranked 15th in the nation and putting them in the company of fourth and fifth seeded teams. The Longhorns’ defense has been even better, ranking 13th in adjusted defensive efficiency and allowing a minuscule 59.6 PPG. They control the game and make opponents work for every bucket, Texas is as tough as nails defensively and have long defenders– they don’t allow transition buckets, don’t allow second chance putbacks. This VT Hokies team will be facing an elite, unfamiliar defense here, and TEXAS should come out strong and determined and Virginia Tech just played four games in four days. I really like TEXAS here a lot on Friday evening.
