Lefty Cole Irvin has been very sharp for the A’s. He’s allowed 2 or less runs in six straight starts. In two starts vs. the Angels, he gave up five earned runs in 12 innings, though both teams went well under the total. He faces another lefty in Jose Suarez, who has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts. One of those starts came against Oakland in the 3-1 Angels’ win against Irvin.
