It was a disappointing trip to the Mile-High City as the Padres dropped three of four to the Rockies, who have owned them this season. San Diego finishes the first half of the season at home against the Diamondbacks. That should work in the favor of the Friars as Yu Darvish is expected to toe the slab for the hometown squad. Darvish was rock solid in his last start, which came against the Giants Saturday as he threw seven innings, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts, but ended up with a no-decision as the bullpen gave up a two-run shot in the eighth to turn that into a loss. He's been terrific at Petco Park, going 4-1 with a 1.69 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, 10 walks and 51 strikeouts over 53.1 innings. Darvish has eight quality starts in as many home outings and opposing hitters have a putrid .157/.227/.240 slash line with two homers over 203 plate appearances (183 official at-bats) against him this season. The Diamondbacks may have Madison Bumgarner but they also have an inconsistent offense that hits .214 against right-handed pitching. Give the edge to Darvish and the Padres.
