New York Mets -185
(MLB) San Diego vs. NY Mets,
Money Line: -185.00 NY Mets (Home)
Result: Loss
On paper, this is a great pitching matchup, but a closer look shows that things are a little shakier for the visitors. Yu Darvish has pitched well this season as a front of the rotation guy for the Padres but he's been much better at home than on the road. As the visiting pitcher, Darvish is 3-3 with a 5.25 ERA, a 1.271 WHIP, 10 walks and 40 strikeouts while allowing seven homers over 48 innings on the year. Meanwhile, Max Scherzer continues to defy Father Time, going 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA, a 0.857 WHIP, six walks and 29 strikeouts over 25.2 innings in four starts at Citi Field this season. Opposing teams are hitting just .180 with a .255 on-base percentage and a .292 slugging percentage against him at the park. New York is fifth in the majors in runs per game overall this season and is tied for sixth in runs per game at home. Scherzer keeps a Padres team that has been good on the road in check while the Mets do enough offensively to pick up the win here.
