Normally, I look where the Padres are playing and make a decision accordingly depending on the starting pitcher. Normally, that means fading Yu Darvish on the road as he has a 4.75 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, 11 walks and 49 strikeouts over 55 innings as the visiting pitcher. However, that strategy didn't work in his last road start, as he beat Max Scherzer Friday night at Citi Field, tossing seven innings while allowing one run on four hits with one walk and nine strikeouts in a 4-1 Padres victory. Tarik Skubal counters for Detroit having won two of his last three starts but it's hard to forget that he was 0-5 in the six starts previous to that. The Tigers struggle to put runs on the board while the Padres have been pretty proficient offensively on the road. Darvish has a better track record than Skubal and that gives the Padres the upper hand on getaway day.
