Seattle has to be glad that after this weekend, they'll be done with the Astros for the regular season. The Mariners have dropped five straight meetings with Houston since the All-Star break and 11 of the 17 contests between the teams on the year after getting rolled 11-1 on Friday night. Seattle sends Chris Flexen to the hill, who has turned his season around after a slow start to the year. After falling to 2-8 after taking the loss on June 13 against the Twins, he's gone 5-0 with a 2.79 ERA over 38.2 innings in his seven starts since that point. However, for his success of late, Flexen has sputtered against the Astros in his career, going 1-6 with a 4.87 ERA and a 1.534 WHIP over 44.1 innings in eight starts. Framber Valdez has won eight of his last 10 decisions and has given up more than three runs in just one of his last 16 starts. The Astros put up good offensive numbers in the first two games of this series and Valdez is 5-0 with a 1.64 ERA, a 1.068 WHIP, 19 walks and 46 strikeouts over 44 innings in eight career appearances, six starts, against Seattle. Houston has Seattle's number and they run their win streak over the Mariners to six by prevailing here.
