I went the other way on this game Friday night when I backed Joe Ryan over Blake Snell. That didn't work out as expected. With that said, the Twins are still trying to figure some things out as they look to maintain their slim edge in the AL Central race. Sonny Gray is on the hill for the Twins but he has gone just 1-2 with a 7.53 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP over 14.1 innings of work in his last three starts. The Twins are a .500 team on the road and now have to deal with Joe Musgrove. Sure, Musgrove has struggled, going 0-3 with a 5.34 ERA and five homers allowed over 30.1 innings in his last five starts. That is in stark contrast to early in the year as he gave up five homers in his first 12 starts on the year. The dimensions of Petco Park can keep offenses reined in a bit and I like Musgrove a little better than Gray at this point. Give the Padres the advantage in this contest.
