I went this route earlier in the week only to see the Rays' bullpen meltdown and turn what was a stellar start by Shane McClanahan from a win into a no-decision in a game Tampa Bay went on to lose. Still, we're looking at the ace of the Rays' rotation and one of the frontrunners for the AL Cy Young Award taking on what is a glorified bullpen day for the Guardians in this contest. Let's face it, Bryan Shaw is getting the start on the mound and it will likely be Kirk McCarty as the bulk inning guy for Cleveland here. That kind of pitching doesn't strike fear in the hearts of anyone and should be a prime chance for the Rays to get on the board early. An early advantage should be more than enough for McClanahan, who is 10-3 with a 1.76 ERA, a 0.773 WHIP, 20 walks and 154 strikeouts over 117.2 innings of work on the year. He's allowed two runs or less in 13 of his last 14 starts, including each of his last six. Cleveland can't get things going at the dish and that gives Tampa Bay the upper hand.
