Stop if you've heard this one before...we're fading Patrick Corbin and the Nationals. Corbin has been dreadful this season and has fallen off a cliff since the Nationals' World Series title year in 2019. Since that, from the start of the shortened 2020 season to the present, Corbin is a miserable 15-38 with a 5.84 ERA, a 1.582 WHIP, 116 walks and 305 strikeouts while allowing 66 homers over 347 innings in 64 starts. That includes a 4-15 mark with a 6.57 ERA, a 1.769 WHIP, 38 walks, 102 strikeouts, a league-high 156 hits allowed along with 91 runs (80 earned) over 109.2 innings of work in 2022. Ranger Suarez is not going to remind Phillies fans of Steve Carlton but he's capable of throwing five or six frames. He hasn't allowed an earned run (three runs total) over 16 innings in his last three starts. Philadelphia has gotten the power game cranked up in this series, evidenced by bashing five homers in Friday's 7-2 win. Washington doesn't have the power to keep up and that carries the Phillies to a win.
