Result: Win
On a light slate, it's tough to pick something that jumps out without having a ridiculous number attached to it. Washington was just clobbered in a four-game set by the Phillies on the road where they were outscored 36-12. The Nationals surrendered 14 long balls in the series and the only game that was decided by a single run was a rain-shortened contest in the opener. Meanwhile, the Cubs took two of three from the Marlins, surrendering just four runs in the series. Sure, they only scored six as the winds were blowing in but with Willson Contreras and Ian Happ still with the team, the Cubs have their All-Stars in the lineup. Keegan Thompson dropped two of his last three starts but the Cubs failed to score a run in either of those contests. He still is 8-5 with a 3.48 ERA on the season. Meanwhile, Anibal Sanchez is 0-4 with a 7.65 ERA in his four starts, giving up six homers in 20 innings of work. Yan Gomes (.364, two HR, 8 RBI in 22 AB) and Rafael Ortega (three for eight, 2B, 3B, RBI) have done damage against Sanchez in his career. With Washington missing punch in their lineup and Thompson capable of shutting teams down when he's on, give the advantage to the home team in the Friendly Confines.
