There's little reason to put faith in the Pirates in this contest. JT Brubaker has been awful this season, coming in 2-10 with a 4.49 ERA. In his last three starts, he is 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA over 14.1 innings of work. Brubaker has stunk on the road, going 0-7 with a 3.90 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP over 67 innings of work on the year. Pittsburgh is third-worst in the majors in road run production as they average only 3.3 runs per game as the visiting team. Merrill Kelly has been terrific of late for Arizona, posting a 1-0 mark with a 0.82 ERA over 22 innings in his last three starts. He's 4-0 with a 1.49 ERA with opposing hitters posting a .185/.230/.292 slash line over 48.1 innings over his last seven starts. The Diamondbacks are above .500 at home on the season and Kelly turns in another solid outing to give the Snakes the victory on getaway day.
