Houston Astros -1.5 (-120)
(MLB) Oakland vs. Houston,
Point Spread: -1.50 | -120.00 Houston (Home)
Result: Win
Houston won the first two games of this series and covered the run line in both contests, prevailing 7-5 on Friday night and following up with an 8-0 blanking on Saturday behind Lance McCullers Jr., who made his season debut with six scoreless frames. The Astros lost Michael Brantley for the season after shoulder surgery but they still are a dangerous team. Cristian Javier has been struggling of late, going 0-5 in his last six starts, but he's pitched all right in that stretch. His big problem of late has been the long ball as he's surrendered eight homers over 30.2 innings in that stretch. Fortunately, Oakland doesn't have a ton of pop in their lineup, which should help him avoid the homer issue. Cole Irvin has pitched well himself but dropped back-to-back starts to the Angels because the A's didn't score runs. That could be the problem here as the Astros get the sweep while Javier gets back in the win column.
