We backed this play on Saturday and the Padres were cruising through five, up 3-0 before the wheels came off. San Diego gave up back-to-back jacks in the sixth, the first with a man on, to tie the game and went on to lose 4-3. The Padres missed a prime chance to pick up a win as they left a small village on the basepaths against Anibal Sanchez and company, going two for 12 with runners in scoring position. With that said, you have to think that San Diego will bounce back and the bats will deliver to the level one would expect. Washington picked up a win but expecting them to string together back-to-back triumphs against a team fighting for a playoff spot is a little too much to ask at this point. Give the advantage to the Padres, who, according to the Scott Reichel game after theory, should batter Washington early en route to a one-sided triumph.
