Seattle Mariners +100
(MLB) Seattle vs. LA Angels,
Money Line: 100.00 Seattle (Away)
Result: Win
I get the fact that the Angels just took two of three from the Twins over the weekend while Seattle had their issues with the Rangers on the road. I also understand that Shohei Ohtani is on the mound for the Angels as well. Those two things don't explain why the Angels are favored here. For starters, Seattle is sending Luis Castillo to the hill and he's been nothing short of brilliant since coming over from Cincinnati at the trade deadline. He's 1-0 with a 1.84 ERA, a 0.886 WHIP, five walks and 15 strikeouts over 14.2 innings in two starts with Seattle. Those outings weren't against doormats either as both outings came against the prolific lineup of the Yankees. There's a big difference between the Yankees (2nd in the majors with 5.23 runs per game) and the Angels (25th with 3.86 runs a night) this season. Seattle is still right in the thick of the AL wild card picture while the Angels fell apart in May and never recovered. Ohtani keeps the Angels in the game but it's a task to put runs on the board against Castillo. Seattle gets the road win here to open the series on a positive note.
