Seattle Mariners -170
(MLB) Seattle vs. LA Angels,
Money Line: -170.00 Seattle (Away)
Result: Win
These teams were locked in a battle of solid pitchers in the opening game of the set with Luis Castillo and Shohei Ohtani on the bump Monday night. This one is a bit more uneven when it comes to pitching matchups as Robbie Ray gets the start for the Mariners against the Angels' Jose Suarez. Ray has settled in after a slow start to the season and has pitched well in the last couple of months. Since June 12, he is only 3-2 with a 2.76 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, 22 walks and 79 punchouts over 65.1 innings in that stretch. Half of the runs he allowed in that stretch came in back-to-back starts against the Astros over just 5.2 innings in late July. If you throw those two out, his other nine starts see him with a 1.51 ERA over 59.2 innings of action. Jose Suarez takes the ball for the Angels and he's spun 17.1 innings without allowing an earned run in his last three starts. A closer look shows that one of those starts was against the Royals while the other two came against Oakland. The Angels' lineup is rather punchless as well. Look for Ray to shut the Angels down and deliver a win for the visitors.
