Houston struggled against Baltimore over the weekend, dropping two of three to the Orioles, and seeing Justin Verlander suffer a calf injury in Sunday's outing that ended his day after just three innings. The Astros now get to face the Rangers, a team that they have beaten in 10 of the 14 meetings this season. Framber Valdez gets the call for Houston and he's been on fire for more than four months now. Valdez has turned in 21 straight quality starts and has won his last four starts coming into this one, allowing six runs over 27.1 innings of work in that stretch. Dane Dunning gets the call for Texas but he's given up nine runs over 15.1 innings in his last three starts. He's also 0-5 with a 5.25 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP over 61.2 innings on the road this season. Houston has been excellent at home and they ride Valdez to a victory in the opener of this short two-game set.
