Point Spread: -1.50 | -100.00 St. Louis (Home)
Result: Win
This is more an indictment on the pitching situation for the Cubs than anything at this point. Sure, Chicago won Friday night 3-0 behind a vintage performance from Kyle Hendricks. The problem for the Cubs is the lack of depth in their pitching staff: Marcus Stroman, Wade Miley and Drew Smyly are all on the IL. Meanwhile, the relievers have struggled, allowing 46 homers on the season, including 18 in the month of June alone. It's unclear if it will be Adrian Sampson or Alec Mills on the mound here though neither man instills much in the way of confidence. Miles Mikolas didn't seem to have any ill effects after throwing 129 pitches in his near no-hitter against Pittsburgh as he gave up two runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts over 6.1 innings in his last outing. He took the loss in a 2-0 defeat to Milwaukee and Corbin Burnes, though he kept his team in it. After being blanked Friday, the Redbirds' bats kick it into gear while Mikolas handcuffs the Cubs to deliver a win for the hosts.
