After getting blanked on Monday night, St. Louis evened things up with the Nationals by picking up a 4-1 win Tuesday night. In this one, the Cardinals send Jordan Montgomery to the hill and he's been tremendous since coming over at the trade deadline from the Yankees. Montgomery is 5-0 with a 1.47 ERA, a 0.927 WHIP, six walks and 32 strikeouts over 36.2 innings in six starts with the Redbirds. The Cardinals are 3rd in the majors in runs per game at 4.90 per game and they put up 4.91 runs a night at home this season. Meanwhile, Cory Abbott (0-2, 4.39 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 13 BB, 24 K over 26.2 innings) gets the call for Washington. The Nationals had a three-game win streak come to an end in Tuesday's contest and it's hard to see them doing a ton of damage against Montgomery. With the talent the Cardinals have in the lineup, you have to think they can pile up some runs early and allow Montgomery to just mow down the Nationals en route to the win.
