Miami Marlins -175
(MLB) Miami vs. Washington,
Money Line: -175.00 Miami (Away)
Result: Win
Sure, Washington won the first two games of this series. They prevailed Friday as the Miami bullpen melted down and they earned a win Saturday on the strength of single runs in each of the first five innings, four of which came on solo shots. In this one, you can't rely on the power game helping Washington and you can't count on the Marlins' bullpen giving the game away either. Why is that you ask? Well, the Marlins are sending Sandy Alcantara to the mound in this contest. Sure, he's sputtered in his three starts in September, going 0-2 with a 5.50 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, two walks and 14 strikeouts over 18 innings, though he had a quality start in his last outing. Against the Phillies, he threw seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts in a 2-1 Marlins loss. He still leads the NL in innings (203.2), complete games (four), shutouts (one), ranks 2nd in ERA (2.43) and sixth in strikeouts (181) on the year while also leading in pitching WAR (seven) entering Sunday. Expect him to handcuff the Nationals and carry this one to a Marlins victory.
