Tampa Bay let one slip away in the opener as they blew a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3 to Boston. That loss dented their hopes of moving from the finale wild card spot as they need to win their final two and have Seattle drop three of four in the set with the Tigers in order to leapfrog the Mariners. The Rays are slated to send Jeffrey Springs to the hill in this contest with his 9-4 record and 2.45 ERA on the season. Boston has Rich Hill going but let's be honest about the fact that he's clearly at the tail end of his career. He doesn't overwhelm anyone at the plate and the Red Sox have had all kinds of issues with their bullpen this season. Knowing what's at stake for Tampa Bay here, one has to think that they're going to shake off Monday's missed opportunity and get back in the win column here to keep pressure on the Mariners.
