This game was pushed back a pair of times due to Hurricane Ian but gives us a chance for some bonus mid-week football. SMU comes in off back-to-back losses to drop to 2-2 on the season while they travel to face a 3-1 UCF squad that is coming off a 27-10 win over Georgia Tech in their previous game. The Knights didn't do much through the air in the win over the Yellow Jackets but they beat Georgia Tech's defense into submission with the ground game, piling up 284 yards in the win. UCF is third in the nation in the run game as they pile up 275.8 yards per game and 5.54 yards per carry on the year. That works in the Knights' favor as they face a SMU team that is only 105th in the country in run defense as they allow 180.5 yards per contest and 4.43 yards per carry. UCF is well suited to contain Tanner Mordecai and the Mustangs' pass-centric attack as they are 14th in the country by allowing only 169.8 yards per game through the air and three scores in their four games. Throw in SMU's penchant for turning the ball over (10 turnovers in four games) plus the fact that UCF is at home here and you have to like the Knights in this contest.
