The opening night of the NHL season wouldn't be the same without a battle of teams out on the west coast. Vegas collapsed down the stretch last season and missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. The Golden Knights parted ways with coach Peter DeBoer, bringing in former Bruins and Capitals coach Bruce Cassidy to take over behind the bench. He inherits a team that dealt away Max Pacioretty while also losing Evgenii Dadonov, Dylan Coghlan and Mattias Janmark. What's shakier for Vegas is their goaltending situation as Robin Lehner is out for the year, leaving the less than enthralling group of Logan Thompson, Laurent Brossoit and former Sharks backup Adin Hill to shoulder the load. Jonathan Quick should be between the pipes to open another season for the Kings, who bolstered their lineup by bringing in Kevin Fiala to add another scoring threat. The Golden Knights have a lot of question marks and that should be enough to push the Kings to a victory here.
