Result: Win
We've got a matchup of two massively different teams when you get right down to it. Arizona was the worst team in the Western Conference last season and was abysmal on both ends of the ice, finishing last in the league in goals per game and third-to-last in goals against per contest. The Coyotes didn't make any big moves in free agency to bolster their team and most of their young guys aren't going to make an impact with the big club this season, at least not on Opening Night. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh kept their nucleus, aging as it may be, together so Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Bryan Rust, Kris Letang and company get another run as they try to snap a string of four straight first-round playoff exits. The Penguins are very solid on both ends of the ice and they have a healthy Tristan Jarry between the pipes: remember, he played just one game of the seven-game loss to the Rangers. Playing at home, you have to back the Penguins here as they open the season with a big W.
