Point Spread: -1.50 | -115.00 Milwaukee (Away)
Result: Win
We saw a wild, high-scoring affair in the opening game of this set at PNC Park Thursday night as the Pirates outhomered Milwaukee 5-0 and needed every last one of them to hang on for an 8-7 victory. Milwaukee scored three times in the ninth and had the tying and winning runs on base before being retired to end the game. I look for Milwaukee to get back in the win column here as Corbin Burnes is on the hill for the visitors. The reigning NL Cy Young winner has won three straight starts, posting a 2.18 ERA, a 0.77 WHIP, four walks and 27 strikeouts over 20.2 innings in that stretch. Burnes has been dynamite on the road, going 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, eight walks and 50 strikeouts over 44 innings plus six quality starts in seven outings as the visitor. Roansy Contreras has gone more than five innings just once this season, when he went 5.2 frames, and that puts a lot of pressure on a Pittsburgh bullpen that sputtered Thursday. Burnes handcuffs the Bucs and the Brew Crew piles on the runs for a win for the visiting team.
