Cleveland has had their issues in this series with the Tigers as their third doubleheader in the span of a week has taken a toll on them. The Guardians were swept Monday by the Tigers in a doubleheader and saw Cal Quantrill get roughed up Tuesday night in what came as at least a mild surprise. Now here on getaway day, the Guardians, after a dismal flop, saw their ace come up on the river for a chance to at least close the series on a positive note. Shane Bieber takes the hill for Cleveland here and he comes in with four quality starts in a row and eight of his last nine outings. The Guardians have won seven of those nine outings and he keeps them in games, even though it doesn't reflect on his personal record. Bieber is 7-3 with a 2.18 ERA, a 0.882 WHIP, 15 walks and 91 strikeouts over 70.1 innings in 10 career starts against the Tigers. Michael Pineda is making just his second start since coming off the IL with a broken finger. He is likely going to be limited and the Guardians are hungry to get one in the win column. Bieber does the job and delivers for the visitors on getaway day.
