Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (-120)
(MLB) Chi Cubs vs. Milwaukee,
Point Spread: -1.50 | -120.00 Milwaukee (Home)
Result: Loss
The Brewers are trying to extend their advantage in the NL Central as they close this early week set with the Cubs at American Family Field. We saw a couple of wild games in the first two contests of the series but if there's a chance for a return to normalcy, this would seem to be the place. Corbin Burnes is on the hill for the Brew Crew and he's been sharp lately, reminding people of why he is the reigning NL Cy Young winner. He is 3-0 with a 2.18 ERA, a 0.774 WHIP, four walks and 27 strikeouts over 20.2 innings in his last three starts. Milwaukee has won seven of his last nine starts and look to build on that here. Chicago counters with Adrian Sampson, who strikes fear into no one at this stage of his career. The Cubs are missing Marcus Stroman, Wade Miley and Drew Smyly in their rotation. It's tough to see Chicago doing a ton offensively against Burnes, who has fanned 50 hitters over 32 innings in five starts against the Cubs since the start of 2021. Milwaukee should be able to do damage to Sampson along with a Cubs' bullpen that has seen more than its fair share of work in the last week or so. Burnes keeps the Cubs in check and the Brewers get the duke here.
