New York Yankees -160
(MLB) NY Yankees vs. Boston,
Money Line: -160.00 NY Yankees (Away)
Result: Win
One of the sport's most bitter rivalries unfolds its latest chapter at Fenway Park this weekend. The Yankees have been excellent all year and while the Red Sox had a blistering June, they've sputtered a bit in the first week of July. Perhaps a bigger problem for Boston in this contest is the fact that they are shredded in their rotation right now. Chris Sale is expected to make his season debut next week, while Nathan Eovaldi and Garrett Whitlock have been shelved for a bit now as well. That means rookie Josh Winckowski gets the call in the opening game of this series. Sure, he's 3-2 with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.385 WHIP in 26 innings of work but facing the Orioles, A's, Tigers and Cubs in four of those games doesn't really move the needle as far as being a marquee offensive assault. The Yankees are loaded with talent and they entered Wednesday averaging five runs per contest, which was second in the majors. While Gerrit Cole has had his rough moments this season, he's been solid of late, allowing only four runs over 26.1 innings in his last four starts while fanning 33. The combination of Cole and the prodigious Yankee attack gives them the upper hand in the opener here.
