Result: Win
This one can be summed up in three words: fade Joan Adon. The youngster has upside and potential, though he lacks experience. That has shown through, which is why he is 1-11 with a 6.97 ERA, a 1.747 WHIP, 36 walks and 50 strikeouts over 60.2 innings of work in his 13 starts on the year in the majors. He was sent down to the minors and hasn't pitched at all since June 22 with the rationale being that he needed to rest his arm after a heavy workload in April and May. Washington simply doesn't put runs on the board in Adon's starts as they have totaled 22 runs in his 13 outings, including seven starts where they scored zero or one run. Bailey Falter isn't going to be garnering any NL Cy Young votes but the Phillies have totaled more runs (23) in his four starts than Washington has generated in Adon's 13. The Phillies already beat Adon in his first start against them this season on June 17, tagging him for four runs on seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts over five innings in a 5-4 Phillies win. After Josiah Gray held everyone not named Kyle Schwarber in check Wednesday, Philadelphia comes back with a vengeance here and win on getaway day.
