Best Bet - Reds/Yankees Over 8 (-115)
(MLB) Cincinnati vs. NY Yankees,
Total: 8.00 | -115.00 Over
Result: Loss
When you get right down to brass tacks, this total seems rather low. Sure, the Reds have struggled a bit on the road, ranking 27th in runs per game as the visiting team with 3.38 runs per contest, and they're facing Gerrit Cole. Cincinnati has some guys that have familiarity with the Yankees' right-hander however, as he spent the first part of his career with the Pirates. Tommy Pham (nine of 18, HR) and Joey Votto (five of 24, three RBI) have the most experience against him. In addition, Cole has been prone to the long ball, giving up 16 in 99.1 innings this season. On the flip side, the Yankees are mashing the ball, leading the majors with 5.23 runs per game and they are fifth in runs at home with 4.91 per contest. Graham Ashcraft started his rookie year well, allowing only three runs over 23.2 innings in his first four starts but things have soured from there. In his last five starts, he's gone 1-2 with a 7.27 ERA over 26 innings of work, which is a recipe for disaster. Cincinnati's bullpen won't help much as they enter the game with a 5.42 ERA themselves. The Yankees could get to this number themselves but the Reds get a couple to help push this over the mark.
