THE INSIDERS ROOM'S SEC BIG BAD ATS BEATDOWN!
(NCAAF) Mississippi State vs. Alabama,
Point Spread: 31.00 | -105.00 Mississippi State (Away)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* ATS BEATDOWN on Mississippi State.

I think that Alabama is getting too many points here. I think Mississippi State can comfortably sneak in through the back door down the stretch.

The Tide are off a 48-17 road win over Tennessee as 21.5 point favorites.

But if Alabama was ever going to have some small or minor letdown here this season...I think this is it...it's another huge favorite here against Mississippi State...and then it has its bye week...before a game at LSU in the middle of the month.

Mississippi State has been a disappointment this year...but it does benefit from coming out of its bye week into this one.

In its previous contest it lost 28-14 at Texas A&M.

Alabama won this game 38-7 as a 19-point favorite last year...but I expect a bit more of a competitive battle this weekend.

The Bulldogs played their best game of the year in Week 1...pulling away for a 44-34 upset road win over LSU as 14.5 point underdogs.

But Mississippi State comes in having lost three straight...quarterback KJ Costello has six touchdowns and ten interceptions this year...he's REALLY struggled over these last three games...throwing only one touchdown...to eight interceptions...Costello will be out to redeem himself here...he'll be given the green light to air it out...but he's also going to share time under center with freshman quarterback Will Rogers...who saw time vs. A&M...completing 15 of 18 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.

Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide are obviously the better team...but I don't see any reason for Alabama to run up the score in the second half if it has a big lead...instead it'll be trying to just avoid injury and run the clock out.

Mississippi State is also 6-1 against the spread in its last seven following a double-digit loss at home...while Alabama is a poor 2-8 against the spread following an against the spread victory.

Here's an interesting stat as well: The Bulldogs actually have the top-rated defense in the SEC regarding both total and passing yards allowed this season.

So again..I think Alabama is going to win this game..it's going to win easily...but I do also definitely think this spread is way too large..I think Mississippi State will give its best shot here and that'll be more than enough to cover with this massive spread...so that's my play on this one...MISSISSIPPI STATE and the points!
