This is an 8* SLUG-FEST SPECIAL on the OVER Nationals/Padres.

Washington has seen the total go UNDER the number in two straight after its 3-1 upset victory here last night.

San Diego has now seen the total dip UNDER the number in five of its last six after last night's setback.

The good news for OVER bettors today though is that the Padres have seen the total eclipse the posted number in seven of their last ten in trying to avenge a home loss against an opponent in which they were held to one or fewer runs in.

And San Diego has to be feeling good about its chances for a bounce back performance here facing the Nationals' Paolo Espino, who is 0-5 with a 4.20 ERA. He'll be opposed by Blake Snell, who is 5-6 with a 3.66 ERA.

Snell shuout the Nats over six innings on Sunday. He's 4-1 with a 0.94 ERA over his last five starts. I say these sparkling numbers are unrealistic and unsustainable though. Look for Washington to plate a couple of Snell here.

That said, note that Espino is 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA in two career outings against the Padres.

Look for this total to fly OVER the number sooner, rather than later.
