The Arizona Diamondbacks dropped Friday's game to the San Diego Padres by the score of 3-0. Arizona managed just four hits in the game which spoiled a decent outing from Luke Weaver. Weaver dropped to 0-3 but allowed just two runs on two hits while striking out three over three innings of work. The D-backs will turn to Merrill Kelly for the start. This season, he has posted a 1-1 record with a 2.63 ERA and 11 strikeouts. In his career against the Padres, he is 3-1 with a 3.71 ERA and 26 strikeouts.

The San Diego Padres did just enough to win yesterday's game as they got solo home runs from Fernando Tatis Jr., Jake Cronenworth and Edward Olivares. San Diego had just five hits as a team in the win. Zach Davies moved to 2-1, going 5.2 shutout innings. Chris Paddack will take the mound for the Padres. He is 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season and against Arizona, he is 2-0 with a 0.79 ERA and 24 strikeouts lifetime.
Both pitchers have good career marks against their opponents. Arizona has struggled to score and last night both teams struggled at the plate. You have two really strong pitchers and it is hard to see where the runs are going to come from.
