The Cincinnati Reds are coming off a 3-0 win over Chicago last night. Sonny Gray will look to bounce back after a nightmare outing his last time out. He didn't make it out of the first inning, allowing six runs in two-thirds of an inning against St. Louis. They need Gray to get back into form if they have any hope of making a run and getting into the playoffs. He has posted a 5-2 record with a 3.19 ERA and 1.18 WHIP this season.

The Cubs have been inconsistent this season and will need to play more consistently down the stretch as the Cardinals and Brewers are putting pressure on them for first place in the NL Central. Adbert Alzolay will make the start for the Cubs against one of the worst offensive teams in baseball. For the season, he has posted a 1-2 record with a 5.14 ERA and 1.62 WHIP.

The Reds are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series while the Cubs are 0-4 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series and the Cubs are 1-7 in their last 8 games as a home underdog. I expect Gray to bounce back and not have a repeat of his last outing. Both teams have been inconsistent at the plate but I think the Reds have a better chance against Alzolay than the Cubs do against Gray.
