Point Spread: -4.00 | -110.00 Wisconsin (Away)
Result: Loss
The No. 4-ranked Wisconsin Badgers have started the season at 3-0 against mediocre competition and this game against the Marquette Golden Eagles will be their toughest game to this point. Marquette is coming off their first loss of the season to Oklahoma State.
Wisconsin is coming off an 82-42 pounding of Green Bay 82-42. Micah Potter had 14 points and was one of five Badgers’ players in double-figures. The Badgers also have plenty of size and depth upfront. They are ranked No. 7 in the KenPom and No. 4 in the AP Top-25 Polls. They are scoring 109.4 points per 100 possessions which ranks 19th in the NCAA.
On the defensive side, the Badgers are giving up just 86.0 points per 100 possessions which is 4th in the NCAA.
Marquette is coming off a 70-62 loss to Oklahoma State in their last outing. Koby McEwen had 21 points and Jamal Cain added 13 points with 13 boards in the loss. As a team, they are averaging 106.5 points per 100 possessions which is 53rd in the NCAA. They turn the ball over way too much, but when they do control it they shoot 44.8 percent of their total field goal attempts from long distance 43rd in the NCAA and making 36.5 percent of the time 66th in the NCAA. On the defensive side, they are allowing just 88.8 points per 100 possessions 24th in the NCAA.
The Badgers are one of the biggest and most experienced teams in the country. They have six seniors on the roster. Wisconsin features a well-balanced offense that can score from both the inside as well as the outside. I like the Badgers to cover the spread on the road as they play great defense and Marquette is prone to turn the ball over.
