The Boston Celtics are coming off a 100-91 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday and they have split the first four games this road trip. The Utah Jazz have won 15 of their last 16 games, including four in a row after beating the Pacers 103-95 on Sunday.
The Celtics will need players to step up against the Jazz as Marcus Smart is out with a calf injury, and Jaylen Brown is questionable after missing the last two games with a knee injury. Kemba Walker has only played nine games after missing the start of the season with a knee injury, and he has started slow. If Brown cannot go, the Celtics will be missing their top two perimeter defenders against a red hot Jazz team.
The Jazz is doing it on both ends of the court and is the only team that ranks in the top five in efficiency on both offense and defense. Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley, and Jordan Clarkson are putting up at least 16.5 points a game while shooting 38 percent or better from three. Mike Conley missed Sunday’s game, and he remains out on Tuesday.
The Jazz has the depth, so the loss of Conley is not as bad as the loss of Smart and possibly Brown for the Celtics. Donovan Mitchell and Jordan Clarkson should step up from the perimeter and the Jazz has a size advantage in the paint with Rudy Gobert.
