In another matchup of regular season rivals, the San Diego Padres travel north to face the LA Dodgers in Game 1 of their best-of-five series. The Padres took game three of their Wild Card series with the Mets, 6-0 behind a strong outing from Joe Musgrove. The Dodgers won the season series 14-5, outscoring the Padres 109-47.

Mike Clevinger is expected to get the start for the Padres. He finished the season at 7-7, with a 4.33 ERA, and a 1.198 WHIP. Over his last three starts, he is 2-0 with a 3.45 ERA, and a 1.09 WHIP. In four career starts against the Dodgers, he is 0-2 with a 9.69 ERA, and a 1.539 WHIP. At Dodger Stadium he is even worse, posting an 0-2 record with an 11.25 ERA, and a 1.75 WHIP.

Los Angeles cruised down the stretch and it showed with them losing three of the last four. They are coming into this game well-rested to play a team they dominated all season. The Dodgers will send Julio Urias to the mound to face the Padres. For the season he finished with a 17-7 record with a 2.16 ERA. He faced the Padres four times and was 3-0 allowing just four runs on 15 hits.

The Dodgers dominated the season series with the Padres. San Diego had to fly back to the west coast late Sunday night after playing a three-game series with the Mets. Clevinger has sputtered in his starts against the Dodgers in his career while Urias has dominated the Padres this season. This Series will be close but this game has the Dodgers written all over it.
