The San Diego Padres head to the Motor City to take on the surprising Detroit Tigers. San Diego comes into this game having taken two of three from Toronto While Detroit took three of four from the Royals. The Padres will send Seth Lugo to the mound for today's start. The Tigers are 43-52 this season but to be honest that is better than most Tiger fans expected. The Tigers will hand the ball to Reese Olson. He is 1-3 with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. Over his last five, he is 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA. The Padres have been one of the best rosters in the MLB but also one of the most disappointing. Lugo has been very good this year while Olson has been inconsistent. Detroit is a woeful 14-21 as a home underdog. Lugo has allowed three or fewer runs in ten starts and is facing a Tiger team that averages a tad under 4 runs a game. The Padre bats are starting to come alive and if they are going to make a second-half run, these are the games they need to win.
