The 19th-ranked Miami (FL) Hurricanes face off against the Florida Gators. Mario Cristobal has not had a great start to his Miamii career, going 12-13 and 6-10 in ACCin two years. QB Cam Ward transferred from Washington State and will be under center. In three years, he has thrown for 13,874 yards, with 119 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions. On the defensive side, they allowed 24.1 points per game. Billy Napier hasn’t had a lot of success at Florida either, going 11-14, 6-10 in SEC in two years. Graham Mertz will return under center. He threw for 2,903 yards with 20 touchdowns to only three interceptions last season. Florida gave up 29.5 points per game last season. I look to Miami having a huge edge at the quarterback position. They also have a slight edge at head coach. Ward is a gunslinger by trade and will be facing a Florida secondary that was ranked 84th last year in passing yards against. Mertz doesn’t scare me and if Miami can get ahead early, Florida will struggle to keep up.
